Scott Shimamoto was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley. He has witnessed the explosive growth and huge demographic changes in the region. “The area has really changed since I was younger.

A product of Schurr High School in Montebello, California, Shimamoto continued his education at the University of Southern California and graduated in May of 1982 with a Business degree in Marketing Management.

Shimamoto left a successful career in Telecommunications to pursue a career helping REALTORS sell more houses by providing financing options to their clients. “The real estate business has always been intriguing to me” Shimamoto states. “I want to associate myself with people who understand the business and who could eventually help me with my own real estate investments.”

In order to become a valued asset to real estate professionals, Shimamoto has become heavily involved with The Arcadia Association of Realtors and PFAR.

Shimamoto joined the AAR in January 2004 and hasn’t looked back. After joining the AAR’s Tech Committee, Shimamoto was approached by then President, Richard Stone to become Chairperson of the Affiliate Committee. Shimamoto was honored, and jumped at the chance to lead that important faction of the AAR to even bigger and better things.

“My goal is to set an example for my fellow affiliate members. I truly believe that whatever you do in life, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. If you are going to be part of The AAR, you should participate. Being actively involved as an affiliate allows you to help your own business by helping REALTORS with their businesses.”

As a result of his dedication and hard work, Shimamoto was honored as the Co-Affiliate of the Year for the Arcadia Association of REALTORS for 2004.

There is also a fun side to Shimamoto. He is a stand up comedian who has performed in major clubs all over the city including: The Ice House, Flappers, The Comedy Store, The Improv, and The Laugh Factory.

Through his comedy, Shimamoto has helped various non-profit organizations in the area raise much needed funds by producing and performing in comedy show fundraisers. These include: The American Cancer Society; Methodist Hospital’s Club 300; Rebuilding Together; Volunteer Center of San Gabriel Valley; YMCA; Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief Fund; and many others.

Shimamoto also hosted a local radio show on 107.1 FM back in the 90’s called “Out Front L.A.” which featured songs by Asian American musical artists. “We wanted to give talented Asian American musicians a platform for their work. The music business is very tough to break into and we just wanted to have some fun and get these artists some badly needed exposure. It was a great experience.”

Shimamoto also made his national television debut as a contestant on the game show “Family Feud”
